Letter From The President

Dear LTRC Members,

I hope you and your families are enjoying these final days of summer as we move into the fall season.

This past month, our annual meeting was truly transformational. All members of the Board of Directors were affirmed by membership vote, with many new leaders stepping forward to serve. Our featured guest speaker, Vanessa Silvadge, President of Protecting Texas Children, delivered a dynamic presentation on the dangers of transgender ideology and how it is often promoted covertly—many times without parents’ knowledge or consent. This issue is at the center of today’s cultural and political debate, and we commend her bold efforts to protect Texas children and safeguard the future of our families.

As you may recall, we experimented with videotaping our September meeting. After careful consideration in a Special Meeting of the Board, we decided unanimously that we will not continue recording or publishing videos of our speakers. Many of our programs include sensitive commentary best kept within the room, and we must avoid liability issues or misrepresentation. While it seemed like a good idea at the time, in retrospect, it is not in the best interest of the Club moving forward.

Looking ahead, we are honored to welcome Pete “Doc” Chambers as our October speaker. Doc is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, Special Forces Green Beret, and Special Operations physician with 39 years of service to our nation. He now serves as President of Remnant Ministry TX, an organization dedicated to disaster relief and countering human trafficking. He is a champion of truth, transparency, and bold action. You will not want to miss his message on how Republican unity and resolve can restore Texas as a stronghold of liberty.

As we enter campaign season, the Spring 2026 primaries and November midterm elections are quickly approaching. Many state officials are announcing their candidacy for offices across Texas. Please note: while our bylaws allow us to host candidates as guest speakers prior to December 7, 2025 (the filing deadline for the primaries), this does not constitute an endorsement. After the primaries, the Club will move quickly to endorse and support the Republican candidate opposing the Democrat. Between now and then, candidates may still be introduced briefly at meetings, and at our upcoming meeting, we will provide recommendations on the 17 propositions/amendments appearing on the ballot. Once the primaries are complete, expect to see LTRC supporting our Republican candidates through signage, events, and community outreach.

At our September meeting, I also shared that our Club will be pursuing greater activism. We are partnering with Heritage Action to ensure that our conservative voices are heard—locally and at the Texas Capitol. This is about more than discussion; it is about restoring the values and Christian foundations upon which this state and nation were built. Expect more details and new opportunities to engage at our upcoming member meetings.

As I write this letter, our nation is in the middle of a government shutdown. Predictably, both parties are pointing fingers. But I remain hopeful. Once the lights come back on, I believe we will move forward with less Democrat influence, fewer bloated programs, and a renewed sense of fiscal responsibility. Yes, there will be sacrifice—some more than others—but short-term pain can bring long-term gain. America must be reclaimed piece by piece, and this is a step in that direction.

For our younger generation, please note the upcoming True Texas Youth Training in Houston on October 11th (10am–3pm). This program provides history, culture, and conservative principles that are too often missing in our schools. If you know a young person eager to learn what Texas truly stands for, please encourage them to attend.

I will close with an excerpt from Lt. Col. Dave Grossman’s On Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs. Grossman reminds us that while sheep ignore the wolves, the sheepdog stands ready to protect. America needs more sheepdogs—courageous men and women willing to rise up, defend truth, and face the wolves head-on.

This is our moment of truth. In the wake of the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, our mission must be clear. Charlie proved that one man can make a difference. His courage and voice for freedom live on through us. October 14th is his birthday. In his honor, I encourage you to wear red—whether a shirt, a cap, or a Turning Point “Freedom” shirt—to spark conversations about liberty and our commitment to conservative values. When people ask, use that moment to give testimony to your love of America and the freedoms we must defend. Together, we are building a Lake Travis Red Wall—bold, brave, and unshakable.

I look forward to seeing you at our October luncheon at Flintrock Falls Country Club on Tuesday, October 21st.
