LTRC Update

LTRC Members,

We look forward to seeing you at our monthly luncheon on Tuesday, Sept.16.  Our speaker, Vanessa Sivadge, the President of Protecting Texas Children, is a pediatric RN turned whistleblower, and will share her courageous story of exposing Medicaid fraud and secret transgender treatments for minors at Texas Children's Hospital.  This is obviously a controversial topic, but one that concerns us all and is a story that needs to be told.  Please come with questions.

I want to take a few minutes of your time and brag about our Board, the progress we have made over the last year and positive developments for the future. Our Club has made great progress and we are positioned to better serve you, keep you better informed, and to better serve the Republican Party in the Lake Travis Area Community.  As you know, this year  we have added Gerry Ward, Kent O'Brien, and Stacy Smith to our Board.  Each of these Officers brings years of experience in GOP politics and unique leadership skills to our Club.  Stacy Smith will bring her talent to a new legislative reporting and activism efforts, and Kent O’Brien has stepped up into his new role as Director of Programs.  Additionally, we just voted in our newest Board member who will provide a conduit to the Young Republican Clubs in the area. Please welcome Cameron Carlisle as our new Historian and Young Republican Club Liaison Officer at our upcoming annual meeting next week!

Our newly comprised Board will bring new energy, imagination, important contacts, capabilities and experience that will greatly benefit our Club and our members.  In my opinion, as presently constituted, our Club has the most talented leadership team of any political club in the state of Texas.  With this team, the LTRC is positioned to thrive in this challenging political environment, as we strive to achieve our maximum potential.

After very careful thought and consideration over this past year, I have made the difficult decision to retire from my position as the Lake Travis Republican Club President.  It has been my distinct honor and great privilege to serve on this Board for ten years, eight as President. I will forever value the many great friends I have made over the years in the Club and I thank each of you for your participation and support of our efforts. The time is right for this new leadership team to direct the LTRC in challenging times ahead.

As required by our by-laws, I’ve recently submitted my letter of resignation to the Board August 14th, with an effective date of September 9th.  At this week’s Board meeting I endorsed Gerry Ward as candidate to be the Club's new President.  Gerry was subsequently nominated to be President, received a majority of the Board member's vote, and graciously accepted. All LTRC Board members will be presented to the membership and ratified at our upcoming annual meeting - Tuesday, September 16th.

As a political junkie, I intend to remain engaged in national, state and local politics.  I will, of course, remain a member of the Club and will continue to serve in a non-voting advisory capacity as the first Emeritus (Honorary) member of the Board of Directors. I have every confidence in our Club's future success as we strive to keep the great state of Texas RED!

Warmest Regards,

J.Timothy Toler
